• Prof. Gesner de Oliveira from FGV was the Speaker at the 1st. Meeting of the Thematic Commission
The 1st Meeting of 2007 Futurecom Thematic Commission, which was held on March 28th., in São Paulo, counted on the distinguished presence of Prof. Gesner de Oliveira, who gave a speech under following title: “What restrictive factors influence development in Brazil? How to overcome them?
Prof. Gesner de Oliveira had already participated as a speaker on other occasions either in the Meetings of the Thematic Commission or in Futurecom, having made important economical analysis of the Brazilian scenery with deep awareness of the problems that affect our country.
Prof. Gesner de Oliveira is Ph.D in Economics from the University of California – Berkelye, is Master of Science in Economics from the University of Campinas, Bachelor of Science in Economics from USP. He has given courses in the Economic Theory area at FGV since 1990. He came to the Government in 1993 as Assistant Secretary for Economic Politics and left in March 1996. At the Ministry of Finance he acted at the Secretary for Economic Follow-Up and participated in the preparation and implementation of politics for the “Real” Plan (Real is the Brazilian currency). He was President for CADE from 1996 to 2000. He is presently Professor at FVG-EAESP, partner to “Tendências” and author of the Weekly Column “Economic Opinion” of newspaper “Folha de São Paulo”.
