History

After the privatization of the Telecommunications systems in Brazil, the market experienced an unimaginable growth. In these two years, when the name was changed to Futurecom and it adopted an entrepreneurial and marketing profile, Futurecom became the most qualified event of the sector in Latin America.  The event identity was kept as well as the place it was held.

Improvements were made to adequate the event to the new reality of the Telecom market. It became 50% larger in 1999 by following the trends and in the 2000 edition, other 48%.   From this year on Futurecom has been held annually. The only year Futurecom was not held in October, as usual, but in June, was in 1999, due to the privatization of the sector. In 2000 the event already counted on the participation of more than 4.000 people.

In 2001 Futurecom started being held in a newly inaugurated Convention Center in Florianopolis, called Centro Sul. The picturesque island of Florianopolis was very attractive, however, the great differential offered by the event was the modernity of a convention center which disposes of an exhibition area over 10.000 m2.

The event increased its capacity, which resulted in more than 160 exhibitors, a growth of approx. 50% the first year. It was necessary to build an additional pavilion to comply with the demand of a growing market, as a result of the explosion of demand after the privatization.

The eighth Futurecom edition took place in 2006, being the sixth one in Florianopolis. The agreeable and favorable location has allowed the event to remain all these years at the same place, which will be kept in 2007, from October 1st. to 4th.
